One of the most revealing phenomena of the contemporary ecclesial crisis, which can be analyzed from the sociology of power, is the asymmetric hostility with which the Roman authorities and progressive episcopates persecute the traditional liturgy. While hybridization with Amazonian rites, the blessing of unions contrary to natural law, and the degradation of the sacred through dynamics of horizontal assembly are tolerated—and often promoted—the Tridentine Mass (the classical Roman rite) is the object of unprecedented bureaucratic and punitive asphyxiation.
This systematic persecution is not due to merely disciplinary reasons or peripheral aesthetic sensibilities. The Traditional Mass, masterfully codified by Saint Pius V, stands as an impregnable theological wall. Its very ritual architecture constitutes a living anathema against the prevailing immanentism and anthropocentrism. By addressing theocentrically towards the East (ad orientem), by safeguarding the strictly sacrificial and propitiatory character of the Eucharist, and by demanding an attitude of supreme reverence before the Mystery, the ancient liturgy reveals itself refractory to being absorbed by the banalization of Protestantized assembly.
The current coercive strategy has a clear purpose: to annihilate the lex orandi (the rule of prayer) of classical Christianity, knowing full well that this structure sustains and informs the lex credendi (the rule of faith). Those sectors that aspire to transmute the Church into a philanthropic NGO, functional to the globalist agenda and climate emergencies, will not tolerate the survival of a rite that appeals, without concessions, to the atonement of sins and the majesty of God. Liturgical traditionalism, therefore, does not represent an archaeological museum piece, but rather the only coherent resistance against institutionalized apostasy.
Despite draconian edicts and canonical cancellations, the seminaries attached to the Tradition are experiencing undeniable demographic growth, and their congregations bring together a growing number of young families outside of seventies progressivism. The Truth has an intrinsic gravitational force that bureaucratic engineering is incapable of neutralizing. Sustaining the praxis of liturgical Tradition does not constitute an act of schismatic rebellion, but rather the maximum expression of political and spiritual fidelity to the Church of all times.
