The promise of cybernetic immortality and genetic modification is the ultimate expression of the old deception in Eden, a mechanistic assault on the Imago Dei.

Transhumanism: The final technological rebellion and ontological fraud

Transhumanism stands in modern technological forums as the next and inevitable evolutionary phase of our species, a biological imperative masked by progress. Through genetic manipulation, cybernetics, and the integration of artificial neural networks, the high priests of this techno-religion promise to eradicate disease, cellular obsolescence, and even physical death. However, beneath the garb of empirical optimism, humanity's oldest heresy is hidden: the frontal rejection of the finite and created condition of being.

The ambition to transcend human ontological limits by purely immanent (technological) means is the mathematical repetition of the temptation of Eden: "Eritis sicut dii". By denying our contingent and redeemed nature, transhumanism posits a purely materialist salvation. It intends to "hack" Creation, assuming that the human body – matter informed by the spiritual soul – is not the temple of divinity, but a mere inefficient hardware that must be redesigned or directly discarded.

The bioethical and physical implications of this rebellion are catastrophic. If the human being is reduced to nucleotide sequences and data processing algorithms, who establishes the telos (the ultimate goal) of these modifications? We are hurtling towards ruthless technocratic eugenics, where "improvement" Biology will be the privilege of a post-human elite, engendering an irreversible biological schism and annihilating all objective notions of compassion, which will be replaced by a metric of algorithmic efficiency.

Faced with the sterile illusion of digital immortality—a metaphysical impossibility, since the soul is simple and indivisible, not a pattern of bits—theoretical physics and realist philosophy join hands to remember that true transcendence does not reside in silicon, but in sanctifying grace. It is imperative to dismantle, from scientific and theological rigor, this new Gnosticism that attempts to profane the Imago Dei imprinted in an indelible way on our substance.
